Liberals threatening tax hikes even if they lose in November Freedom-loving Americans are poised to make historic changes in November's elections, setting the stage for rollbacks of the far-left Obama-Pelosi-Reid agenda on health care, taxes, cap and trade and immigration. But liberals in Congress are already making plans to ignore the will of the voters and push through billions of dollars of tax hikes. The Bush tax cuts are set to expire at the end of the year. Conservatives want to extend them permanently for all Americans. But liberals are determined to let many of the cuts expire - something even many Democrats warn against doing in the middle of an economic downturn. But according to The Associated Press, David Axelrod, Obama's top political aide, said last week, "One way or the other, we're going to get it done." Appearing on "Fox News Sunday" over the weekend, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer echoed Axelrod's promise, saying that even if his party suffers huge losses in November, he expects a lame-duck session immediately after the election to carry out the Obama-Pelosi-Reid plan to raise taxes. Ignoring the will of the electorate is nothing new for the current leadership in Washington. And if the liberals and socialists who currently dominate Congress are willing to impose their will on America on the tax issue -- even after voters have soundly repudiated them at the ballot box -- what else will they send to the White House of Obama's signature during a lame duck session? Cap and trade, which will cause skyrocketing home energy bills and job losses? Card check, which will put union bosses in charge of American business? Billions more in additional "stimulus" spending? Americans who believe in ending Big Government intrusion into our everyday lives must send an unmistakable message at the ballot box in November. The pushback against Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid must be so decisive and so unmistakable that liberals won't dare to reconvene days later to go against the wishes of the voters. Join the fight today to make sure that our message gets sent loud and clear! |
